While your child is in PICU, your doctors may order a lot of different tests. Sometimes children in PICU need blood tests many times a day. Other common tests in the PICU include chest X-rays and ultrasounds.
Sometimes your child will need to leave the PICU for a test, such as a CT scan or MRI. The CT and MRI scanning machines are located in the radiology department.
A nurse and a doctor will go with your child to keep them safe as they have their scan. Your child will be taken to the radiology department in their bed. All necessary equipment will be attached to the bed and on portable stands.
